Default Well This is Bull.

Every stinking time I start my bike I ride it for 40 feet and then misfiresthen runs normally. I did the 1000 k maintance and they said I need to let it warm up longer. They couldn't recreate the problem. As soon as I left the lot, the bike misfired twice then was fine. Frigging idiots!!

That is what us carb guys call carb farts, except you have an EFI bike. Besides I thought there was no warm up period on FI. There are two common types of misfires: lean and rich. Start checking things such as intake seals to see if you haven't developed an intake leak.

Dallastx,
I am in the process of running in a '07 XL883. Should hit 1,000 miles this week. Anyway, last month I topped it off with 88 octane just to see if it would run OK. It didn't like it! I got some minor missing and a little rough running. So, I went back to 91 octane and havn't had a issue since. So, hopefully it is just a case of bad gas(kind of like a burrito with a Corona)[sm=smiley34.gif]

I had a problem with the harley stock plugs fouling out all the time. I switched to the autolite plugs and I have not had a problem since. My bike would bo the same thing to me. This is what I did.

Humm, that's interesting. Just for the heck of it, I tried some higher octane fuel, to see if the bike would run better, of get better mileage. Noticed no difference at all. That was on a carbed bike. Wonder if that's something different with the FI bikes??

As far as Dallastx, his bike is a 1200, they are all suppose to run on premium fuel. They have a higher combustion. I'm sure he already knows that.

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure it's running lean and adding a set of open pipes didn't help things.
