Default DOH! i made a stupid mistake, no clue how to fix

I've been googling with no luck....

So my new battery came today, when i was filling it up I noticed it came with a thumbtack...it said if the electrolyte was very slow draining into the battery poke a hole in the container and it would let the air in so it would fill faster.

Well, the last cell was taking forever to fill so i poked a hole, then suddenly it started to overflow.

I cleaned up as much as i could but it looks like 2-3oz (could be more, could be less - but it wasn't much) didn't make it into the battery like it was supposed to....

Anyone know if this will affect the battery performance? I know I have to let it sit for a while so I'm going to check it with a multimeter tomo, but I'm curious if I just ruined a brand new battery?b

I was trying to find you a website to support this but i've always just topped off with distilled water. You can get it at wal mart last I checked. I know that O'reilly auto parts sells battery acid also if u wanna buy more.

Time to come out of the dark ages and look for sealed (maintenance free), or better yet, AGM batteries.

Some Sealed and AGM batteries come dry and will need to be filled with acid.

AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. That means instead of the plates sitting in free floating acid, there is a fiberglass mat that is between the plates. The glass mat is soaked in acid.

Also, be aware that not all battery acid is the same. Some AGM batteries have "hotter" acid giving it a higher ah.

Yes, you can use distilled water to fill the low cell in your battery.

Or, join the space age, and get a Shorai lithium battery.
