I was winterizing the bike this afternoon and accidentally knocked something in my gas tank. I had to buy a new bottle of sea foam and inside the cap is a little pull tab like you would find in your 1/2 gallon carton of milk/OJ, what have you. Set that on the tank to throw away after a minute and accidentally knocked it right into the tank. How concerened should I be? Not knowing what I don't know, I'm inclined to think it won't pose any serious problems, but hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about can confirm as much!
I would want to get it out of the tank.
Unfortunately, you didn't tell us anything about your bike (like the model YEAR), so I have no idea whether it's a carb bike with a petcock, or EFI with a fuel pump.
I'd take the tank off and pull the pump from the bottom of the tank, that'll open up a large hole in the bottom of your tank that you'll be able to get it out.
Did I miss something? Is the OP really large and green? Lifting shaking and tilting a sportster sounds kinda difficult. I'd just pull the tank
Won't explain the dynamics, but if you lock the forks and jack the rear. secure it, and shake like hell, you could get it to move forward under the bung hole. And possibly snag it.
