What are the best vintage tires to run on a sportster48?

I'm not an aggesssive rider but I want something that will give decent grip and decent mileage.

Mileage as in longevity? Vintage tires wont give you that. I could get 4K miles out of a rear if I pushed it. Fronts last longer. They grip EXTREMELY well though, which is probably why they dont last long.

Modern tires will give you the grip and longevity you want. Vintage tires will give you the look you seek. Pick one.

There is no answer to a question like this! There are several choices available, you really need to pick one yourself. If this thread lasts long enough you will end up with a few recommendations, but be no nearer answering your problem!

Not true, they grip extremely well.
