Sportster 48 Engine Upgrades
Hello
I've been riding my 2010 XL 48 for quite some time now and I think a stage 1 doesn't really get me there anymore... After a long research I came almost ended up where I was in the beginning... Went to my local dealer and asked them if a 551SE cam can help but they couldn't guarantee the results :/
So I dug up this part list from the SE catalog and I need to know if these will turn the bike from a daily driver to a track bike.. And if so, what is s good upgrade for a little bit more fun.
Cams 25740-05
Piston 22711-04A
Sparck Plugs 32186-10
Heads 16500074
Pushrods 18424-06
Tappets 18572-13
Rocker Arms 17378-98
Cylinder Stud Kit 17004-01
Head Gasket 17056-01
Oil Rocker 62996-07A
Screamin' Eagle Performance Clutch 38002-04
All of these are a high compression SE parts that should be a lot more fun that stock.

1st - Welcome to the forum.
2nd - Your bike looks GREAT! One of the coolest looking sporty's I have seen!
3rd - The layout of your bike is not that of a track bike.
Did the Stage 1 bump you to 1200cc?
If it did I would definitely go with a slight increase in compression, heads and hotter cams. If you didn't already bump it to 1200cc's, definitely add that to the mix. Remember to get cams designed for the range you "really" ride in. Lots of folks look at HP/TQ ratings and purchase off of that, but end up with a bike that hits hard only after they are above 3500-4000 RPM. A bike that hits sooner will be more fun in daily life, even if it costs a few HP/TQ numbers at the top.
If your bike was designed differently (drag bike or road race style) and you really spent a bunch of time making the engine scream, then I would say go ahead and cam it to your heart's content.
Get it tuned after the new parts and go have fun.
Also - if you toss a race motor in a bike, you will really want to upgrade the suspension and brakes to handle the additional speed.
Let us know what you decide.

As for the suspension, I'm already running the Progressive Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit and they run nice! for the back I'm going to upgrade to K-Tech Bullets for the sleek look and performance.
Brakes, I currently have a single side Nissin XR1200 4 piston brake but I'm putting the same on the other side to run duel brakes once all the parts are here.
looking into a hydraulic clutch setup as well! https://www.hdforums.com/forum/image...flamethrow.gif

Ok so after hours of research I came to find that this is too complicated for someone like me!
So based on some suggestions I went to the pros... Dan from NRHS recommended the SE high compression Pistons 22711-04A with their Cat 3 camshafts which are simple bolt on, no machining required !!!!!! Range on those bad boys are from 2500-6500 rpm which is what I'm looking at for a relayable daily driver with a bad kick in the teeth!
Will post my thoughts after its all set up and a test ride.
