Default 1980 sportster 1000

Got my first bike over the summer. Paid 1000 for it. Has an s&s shorty carb Andrews wide grind cams Barnett clutch and compufire ignition. Bike runs great but was making a noise in the primary side.. Found out there are 2 gears in the tranny with busted teeth. Any advice is appreciated

Get that tranny fixed. Period. Don't ride it. Ironheads are notorious about chunking transmission gears through the cases. Then you have a mailbox mount.

What he said! I had a 1980 also and in fact it did pass some gear chunks right thru the bottom of the case!
