Default Bike Won't Start

Hi All,

My 2007 1200 custom won't start. I charged the battery and even tried boosting it. When I push the start button I hear a click right where the fuses are behind the battery cover. I did notice that a few times (when it was starting) that I tried to start the bike it would hesitate then turn over.

Now I just get the click, I pulled a couple of the 15 amp fuses and notices that they had some white corrosion on them.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Rob

How old is the battery and what kind? Perhaps not enough CCA or not holding charge....try jumping it with a good battery. If it starts, then replace the battery. If there was hesitation when you were starting it, me think it's the battery. Otherwise, could be the starter. Hard to determine until you eliminate the battery as the problem.

2007 sportster has design flaw. Water, moist easily get into the fuses and relay block. I would clean up all fuses and the two delay first. Slightly sand each pin and and put on light dielectric grease. Also check ground cable connections. The battery usually has manufacture label with made date. Check how old it is.

Thanks for the input everyone. I did put the battery in my Dyna and it started right up no issues.

So as hpotter suggested I'll clean up the fuses.

If it is the starter is it very difficult to replace.

Thanks,

Rob

romac,

Have you found the cause of this issue?
I think I am having the same issue on my 2007.
