Default Peanut Tank Bag?

Does anyone know of a tank bag designed *specifically * to fit an Iron 3.3 litre peanut tank?

I'm looking for something that will present a usable map case, plus a small cargo space. Either magnetic or strap fastening, and backing material that won't scratch the tank's paint.

I've searched via Google, as well as a number of luggage equipment suppliers, and have found nothing, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Alan

Was just at JP Cycle and they had a great selection of magnetic tank bags that looked like they would work on my "King tank". Small to large...lots of options. Check them out.

I have this one from Sidewind, has lots of room inside, a clear map pocket on top and a small pocket on the end that's good for smokes & phone. It has very strong magnets on the side flaps with a grippy rubber surface against the tank so it doesn't move around or mar the paint. Works very well with the peanut tank, I actually got it as part of a set with throw over saddle bags and don't use it often but both work great when I do use them.

Check out the Joe Rocket Hammerhead Tank Bag. The rear tab can be folded underneath for smaller tanks. Cycle Gear has them. I have used the Manta Joe Rocket Tank Bag for years and never had any problems. They are very durable and well made. When I don't want it on the tank, I just put it on the rear fender. It has never moved or scratched any of my bikes that I have used it on.

Thanks for the feedback, folks!

One of the first sites I looked at when starting my search was J&P; always lots of good stuff there. And I've checked out the Joe Rocket and Sidewinder bags, both of which look good.

Couldn't see anything, though, that goes down to the very narrow width where the tank meets the Iron's saddle. Not really surprising, I guess. There aren't many peanut tank riders who are into tank banks, so perhaps there's not enough of a market out there for manufacturers to provide one.

Not to worry. I may simply look for a small tank-mounted map case (which is what I'm really after, anyway). Or go old-school, and make myself a map case I can strap to my left thigh.

You could always buy a map case or map case pouch and put a magnet inside the pouch or case and put rubberized drawer liner material between the case/pouch and the tank. It small and affordable.

In fact the metal parts bowls that Snap-On, MAC, Harbor Freight and others sell could go inside the pouch and do double duty holding the small pouch to the tank and holding small metal items int he bowl from getting lost inside the pouch - think keys, multi-tool and the like.

Is it specifically designed for the peanut tank? No, it is a universal magnetic series of different size bags, dependent on the needs of the rider. So long as your tank is made of steel, it will work, and perform very well.
