Default Installed Progressive fork springs

Installed progressive springs last night, I have not had the opportunity to test them yet though. Hopefully they will solve my wobble in corners and bottoming out on the slightest bumps. I chose the standard springs because I weigh 180lbs and it was suggested that the heavy duty springs are more suited for riders over 250lbs.

The arguments will rage on forever about progressive vs straight rate springs, but I really liked my progressives that i put in a Hawk GT. I found they made bumps like tar snakes pretty much disappear but would then work much better than OEM when pushing it too. Be interested to hear how you find them.

I have Progressive Springs in both my bikes and it was one of the best upgrades for the money.
Both bikes stay better planted at highway speeds and back country roads. Would never go back to stock springs.

I put the standard rate in my Iron 883 and it is a huge improvement over stock. Handles bumps much better and hardly any nose drive when braking. At only $70-$80 for a set it is well worth it.

I recently bought a 48 and I plan to switch the rear shocks and front springs to progressive springs.

How hard is it to change out the front fork springs? What is involved? Seems fairly straight forward but it's been awhile since I have worked on forks.

The hardest part is jacking the bike up to get the weight off of the front wheel. From there you just remove the chrome nut on the top of each fork tube, pull out the old space, washer and spring then measure fork oil. Re-install is the opposite. Since you have a 48 the replacement PVC spacer may have to be cut to a specific size. I had to move the handlebars out of the way for clearance but you may not have to.

I put them on my '12 Sportster and it was money well spent.
That fat front tire no longer feels like it's too much rubber.

mine works great Make sure you set the pre-load of the included spacers (3-inches) properly too. If you're over 185lbs, don't cut them at all. Otherwise you might want to cut off 1/2 an inch.
