Default High speed wobble in corners!

Hey fellas I'm wondering if new fork springs will help remedy my front end wobble in the corners? My bike still has the original stock front springs and it rides with the front end almost compressed all the way.

Did you check the spring pre-load? Change the fork oil? Did a PO try and lower by cutting springs? Last thing, check all the motor mounts for missing bolts, or just broken/ worn out if rubber mount. And almost forgot check play in head bearings.

how many miles, etc, my indy dude says one of the biggest problems with spoked wheels is people don't come in for regular check ups and then one day all the spokes are out of whack. Spoke tightening is always a culprit

Will check those things. I'm just assuming its all stock because I've never pulled the springs or checked the fork oil. Its only got about 6000 miles on it. Would the motor mounts wear out that fast?

Worked on a friends bike recently that had those symptoms, turned out to be a busted fork seal on one side and because of that the fork oil level was uneven. Removed, cleaned, replaced seals both sides, added fresh oil and problem gone.

Check rear tire also, pressure and or uneven wear. The rear tire has lots to do with turning more than people realize.

There are two things going on here, so let's deal with them separately. My SuperLow also had forks that were compressed too much when I bought it new. I changed that and set the sag correctly by using Race Tech single-rate springs. They have a calculator on their website, so you can get the appropriate rate springs. So IMHO, your ride quality will be improved by having decent springs set at a suitable ride height.

Your wobble may be linked, but the suggestions above between them may help. Also check tyre wear and pressures, for both tyres. If you have aftermarket tyres check that brand's website, as the pressures may be different to stock tyres.

Well if no hi speed wobble in a straight away it could be suspension - what can be termed "wallowing" in corners.

Rule out that the steering stem bearings are correctly adjusted, swing arm pivot is torqued and both axles torqued. Just in case check the brake rotors and rims for trueness.

Tires can also be most suspect. Broken motor mount could also cause this issue.

To answer your question directly...maybe (maybe) fork springs will help. Sportster all seem to benefit from upgraded front and rear suspension.

Good luck.

Do fork seals require any special tools to replace?
