Missing screws!

I knew Red was stronger, and I wonder if I should have used that on the mounting bolt. I'll take a look at link you gave me, Wreck.
That's a good idea about marking the bolt head Hotflap. BTW, I jhust rode out to Edmonton from the coast back in June, it was a great ride on the sportster.
Thanks guys.

I use blue on almost everything and in 8 years have never lost one bolt.
Where things often go wrong is once you torque down a fastener with loctite on it NEVER TOUCH IT AGAIN, lots of times people "check" their fasteners from time to time and as soon as you move the bolt the Loctite bond is lost and it can rattle out as if you never had Loctite on it in the first place.
If you are concerned about a particular fastener coming loose take a sharpie and put a dot on the head at 12 o'clock, then you can visually check that it hasn't moved without having to touch it again.

Blue (medium) Thread locker on almost everything. A few places I use teflon tape, and a few places I use a star washer or a lockwasher. Only use Red in the few places the manual calls for it.

If you turn one while checking, best to take it out, clean it off, and put back in with a fresh drop of loctite. Some folks say loctite is self healing, but that wasn't my experience in aircraft maintenance, where we used a lot of the stuff. Disturb it, replace it.
