Default My First Post For Hopefully My First Bike (pics)

Hi,

I have always wanted a bike, and i've finally decided to get one.

I am looking to buy an 883 and make a lot of customisations.

I don't have much knowledge of bikes, however i have spent a lot of time looking at various different websites and youtube videos.

Is there a 'favourites / must do' list of customisations for the 883.

I'd love something like this, however if i was to play spot the difference with a standard 883 iron and this i would only be able to pick out:

- flipped mirrors
- shorter rear fender
- different handle bars
- new pipes
- filter

Now you will probably understand my lack of knowledge, however i would really love to get an understanding of what most guys (and gals) do to their 883's.

I love this also (without the white tyre walls)

And this :-)

HOWEVER, this is my all time favourite so far, but i think it's a 48?

Welcome and you definitely got an eye for beauty. I myself just purchased an Iron which I will pick up in a few months when I return to the U.S. All the pictures that you posted are Irons, however, the last one is the Forty-Eight model and although the look can be achieved with an Iron as the basic model it might cost you more than buying the Forty-Eight from the beginning. The Forty-Eight also has the bigger engine as they come with the 1200 and not the 883. Good luck and look forward to seeing your finished product.

Cant really help you with any advice as I only recently bought my first Harley. Seems to me there is no such thing as a bad Harley, just some are better than others!

007ml, I would go straight to a 48; as Duende01 said you will have already the bigger engine. I just purchased my 1st Harley too, I had never been on a bike before and finally go a 1200 Nightster. I been riding for about 6 months, and I have to say go with a 1200 motor. Love the 48 look, hope you can get one!

The 48 is my first big bike. The engine is a beast and pulls hard over 50 which you will never get tired of. The look was a huge factor as well. I hated the 883 rims and loved the spoke look.

Yes, love all of them - the blacked out, retro, hot rod, bobber style.

I have a 48 too

OP, you must do what works for you, and looks good to you.

However, the one rule is (and William Harley must be spinning in his grave, since Harley's were supposed to be gentlemanly like and quiet), is to remove the factory silencers, and promptly throw them into the garbage!
