Default Brake problem

I had to remove my back tire. I already had back brake problems. I put everthing back together, and now my brake asembly is diging into my rotor. I did not see a spacer for the left side. Should there be a spacer between the hub and the brake system?I have tried not tighting down the axle bolt down so much, but I have a loose wheel.

Sounds like missing or incorrectly aligned parts. Spend the bucks and buy the manual. It's worth it.

I just put my new tire on today, and yes there is a spacer on the left side, as well as the right side. The Brake Caliper "rides" on a Carriage on the swing arm and there is indeed a spacer between the wheeel bearing and the carriage assembly.

Two spacers , the right side , show side is the wide one.

The narrow one is left , kickstand side.

They go between rim/bearings and frame/swing arm.

I have every manual that they make for a 91 sportster.. I know for a fact there was only the big spacer on the show side. I wonder if it was put back together wrong before? I am goeing to see if my local dealership has one I need. I am really glad I found this website// You all have been real helpful.
