Default Wyatt Gatling Slip Ons

Today I received a set of "Wyatt Gatling Chrome Slash-Cut Slip on Mufflers - 30-0359" purchased from Dennis Kirk last week for $139.42 shipped. My reason for purchasing these was because I used to run SE II's on my '02 Sporty and loved them. See a thread I started about these mufflers for more detail on their similarities: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sportster-models/1047321-screamin-eagle-ii-muffler-part-number.html

First impressions, I'm wondering what this crease is for in the rear muffler... anyone?

Second, they don't have as sharp a cut to them as the SE II's did. I loved the angle of the cut of the SE II's. These are a little shallower.

Third, the baffles are really obvious. No where could I find a picture of these mufflers aside from the stock catalog picture, so I really had no idea how they were going to look. I could see through the baffle up to the front end of it where it has a flap that extends towards the center which looks like is meant to redirect air to the perimeter of the muffler and then back into the center through a series of several small holes.

Really not sure if I like how these look.

The crease or indent looks as though it's made to accommodate for fitment.

I'd be interested in hearing how they sound once you have them installed. Can you make a Youtube video and link it here when you're done?

Yeah, I'm just really not sure what that little of a reduction in diameter is going to allow to fit that otherwise wouldn't?

If I decide to keep them, I'll make a video.

Yeah it did. I have no idea why it's there. It's far too perfect to look like accidental damage though.

It's there to clear the rear axle bolt.

Just got a response from Dennis Kirk. They said it's a clearance dent. I have never seen this before. It's got to be horrible to look at when its installed on the bike...

You shouldnt be able to see it when mounted. It will go on the back muffler so it doesnt hit the axle bolt on compression.

I hope so. I guess there is less clearance on the '04-'13 Sporty than my '02, as my 3" slip ons didn't have that dent and never had an issue.
