Default 2012 sportster 72 wobble???

When I get around 80 mph on my 72, which has ape hangers, starts to shake and "wobble" pretty bad. I think if I kept climbing in speed I would go into a tank slapper. I have no idea why it does this???
Thanks- Brandon

The 72s narrow tire doesn't help in that department. Try a fork brace, that helps smooth it out. Also check tire pressure and for tire cupping.

Check your stem bolt torque setting. I have a 2012 48 and it had loosened up a little causing a bad vibration. It would happen when I was letting off the gas. That bolt loosens you get play in your neck bearings.

check your wheel to see if its bent. Maybe you hit a bad pothole. Like someone stated before, the 72 has a pretty thin front wheel.

The bike has never been in a wreck. I checked the stem bolt , it's tight. I also found like 4 loose spokes on each wheel. And the tire pressure was low. I'll take it out tonight to see if any of those were the problem.

Maybe you thru a wheel weight. Check for places on the front wheel where maybe a weight used to be, you will see marks on the tire and rim. You said you checked your stem bolt, did you have to tighten it any. You can also check your spokes like this. Also jack up your bike and check the fall away on the fork.

Just because it's a front end wobble, doesn't mean the problem is in the front end. Rear tires, shocks, and swing arm bearings can contribute to front end ride problems.

All true. Measure from the middle of your swing arm bolt to the middle of your rear axle bolt, should be the same measurement both sides.
