on my 06 xl what is the fattest tire size i can fit with out modifying anything or rubbing? ne 1 know?

On the rear you can run up to a 18 x 4.25" rim with a 150/70-18 tire without modifications.

Actually you get get a 160 on the rear ('04 or later) with no problem.
I just did, looks much better I think. I went with a Metz 880
