Default Front running light not working

I have a 2011 1200C fully stock regarding anything electrical.

The right/front turn signal/running light is malfunctioning. Turn signal works fine. (All turn signal lamps work fine - front/back, right/left, all four flash.) Problem is the right front does not function as a running light as it should. Seems to be an intermittent problem as I recall having this problem after the bike tipped over last year. I replaced the bulbs and all was well.

Just noticed it yesterday, again, and went to dealer and purchased replacement bulb. New bulb didn't solve the issue. Bulb is good, even the "old" one is good. If I install the bulb "upside down", the running filament comes on. Of course, the bulb only fastens securely when "right side up".

I'm assuming the bulb is not making proper contact. I've looked through the service manual and the electric manual and couldn't find any useful info.

Short of replacing the entire right turn signal unit, any ideas or suggestion?

TIA.

Well, in the process of troubleshooting I shorted something. Now neither front running light works, nor does the headlight (neither hi nor lo and the highbeam indicator does not come on.) Going to have to take it in for service. Beyond my limited skills.

Check the fuse box first.

Thanks. Thought of that, but it appears you have to remove the fuel tank for access.

You definitely do not. Left side, under the side cover.

Yep. Figured that out after I posted. Gonna check the fuses today. If I can at least get my headlight back, I'll be good for awhile. Those front running lights don't do much good (in my mind) during the day. I rarely ride at night. Hopefully I can buy myself sometime.

Thanks. And, thanks to Guzzi for the link.

your running lights and head lights are all the same fuse replace it then replace the non working bulb. I would imagine its a dual element and you just lost one side.

Thanks. Checking fuses in a bit. However, it is not a bulb problem.

Switch a known good bulb for the bad bulb and see if it works. Just because you bought a new bulb doesn't mean it's good. We get " bad from stock" new aircraft parts all the time.
