Technically, my 06 883L isn't my primary mode of transportation. But in actuality it has become just that. I have a Jeep Wrangler, the gas that's in the Jeep was purchased 13 months ago just a week before I bought my Sporty. Obviously, the Jeep doesn't get driven too much anymore.

Now, I need to explain a bit. I'm self employed and work at home, so I don't HAVE to get up and go anywhere on a daily basis. If I did, I'm sure the Jeep would get used considerably more. I normally get my work done in the morning, and don't go out anywhere until around 10:00 am. By then, it's usually warmed up some, and I can plan any trips I need to take around the weather.

Put it this way, any Harley with stock exhaust doesn't sound like a real Harley.

Don't let anyone tell you there's anything wrong with an 883 sporty... Back many years ago I towed a '65 Chevy Malibu 55 miles over hill & dale with a900 XLH. Wasn't the brightest thing I've ever done, but back in those days I didn't know I couldn't do it, so I did it! lol (Probably never woulda done it sober)

One day I'll come across just the right Sportster and I'll grab it... In my opinion, Sportsters are just plain fun to ride. You can throw 'em around, go off-road with 'em if you want and generally beat the snot out of 'em. Damn good bike!

I love my 883r.It sounds like a big Harley with the stage 1 upgrade.Thats pipes, air cleaner, and carb re-jet.People tell me all the time it sounds bigger then it looks.I ride with my girlfriend on it all the time.It has no problem with 2up riding.Just get a comfy seat.

Alot of us can remember when a 650 was considered a big bike and if you had a 750, WOW. The 883 is more than enough bike for anyone. Are there more comfortable bikes for two up cruising? Sure. But for an all around fun bike that will give you miles and miles of pleasure you can't beat a Sportster, no matter which one you get.

I bought one new 883 Huggerin 1988.Sold it because I got the old lady pregnant and money was tight.Sold it in 1992 by the way.Fast forward to now.I bought a 2006 883 low in may last year.In july I bought my wife a 2002 883 standard.Do you see a trend starting to develope here?We both love our 883's.She didn't like black so now it's blue(well most of it)and itis going back together right now.I will post before and after pics when reassembled. We rode 2 up and combined we weighed in over 400 lbs with me being the biggest share. We went on poker runs on the old bike packed with a sleeping bag, tent and of course a supply of beer on ice I might add.We kept up with the pack.Got about 69 mpg on the one I just described.

I bought my 883c about 7 months ago, hadn't ridden in about 20 yrs. Don't let anyone tell you that an 883 is not a good bike. I ride mine everyday rain or shine and have never had a problem with it. Any ribbing you get from anybody about the bike being a beginners bike is pure horse1111! Buy it , ride it, and enjoy the hell out of it. Mine has dragpipes and this little jewel sounds gruff. 56 mpg,and hundreds of miles later I absolutely love it!

A 883 Sporty has plenty of go - great torque and is just plain fun to ride.

Plenty of options to hop it up a bit, too. My 2005 has STage 1, Vance & Hines straight shots that rumble the hell out of the neighborhood - - almost too loud, I have a bunch of Screamin Eagle accessories, Mustang seat with bitch bar, the list goes on. To me, it represents the true Harley Davidson heritage. Yes, I wish it was more comfortable on the highways - but I try to avoid the highways. Backroad twisties is where it really shines. I take mine on a 10 mile commute to work andthen Ijump intofast airplanes for sky patrol - - and if you ask me, I think my Sporty is more fun!!!!

Live with one for a while and you'll never want to get rid of it.

You can add my name to the list of 883 believers! I’ve had my bike for a year now and it has never failed to put a smile on my face on each and every ride. Plenty of power, easy to handle, and just plain fun. As far as the sound goes... well, all Harleys sound a little weak from the dealer... although I've heard that the 07's are a little bit better.. but since I added my pipes and did a rejet, let's just say that it's all Harley.
