Question Irv...bulb question

Howdy, yeah just joined. I currently have a 1200 Custom. It's got Screaming Eagle Carb, cover, & pipes. Mini apes, a custom touring seat with small backrest and luggage(lol) rack. It's a 2004. I've owned 8 Harley's in my life.im 62. I owned an FLHTCU but my daughter wanted to go to law school so I sold it.
I love my bike but I'm 6' and my lady is 5'11" so we look like two giants on it.
I'm here in Reno,NV and it's finally warming up. I went out to take a scoot and found my front turn signals and flashers working. The rears were not. Rear bulbs are good. I'm confused as to why. Thanks folks, Irv

Irv, take a look up under your rear fender, to see if the wiring to the rear lights has suffered any damage, from the tyre hitting it. If you have a multimeter you can check continuity along the various wires to your rear lights.

To expand on grbrown's comment, the tail light wires on an 04 are run inside a rubber/vinyl channel (self-adhesive) that is applied to the middle of underside of the rear fender. With heavy loads (2 big people) the rear wheel can bottom out against the rear fender when you hit a bump or dip in the road and rub through the channel and wires.

A new self adhesive channel can be purchased from Harley. When reinstalling it, locate it off-center under the fender so the center of the tire (first point of contact) won't hit the channel.

Good info. I have bottomed out quite a few times which now it makes sense. Thanks a mill.

If you have the stock suspension the two of you are testing it beyond its limits! You could consider getting better shocks, possibly longer ones, to better keep the two of you off the fender and give you improved ride quality.

I have checked it visually. Channel is good, under the seat is good. All the wires are in good shape. Baffling! I just don't get what this can be.

Check for wire continuity with a tester from the Turn Signal Module (TSM) connector to the rear. If all is good, it could be that the TSM is bad.

If the TSM was bad, wouldn't the front TS not work too? My brake and tail lights are good, front TS and flashers are good. I don't know of course that's why I ask but it seems.... If fronts work the TSM would be good. It's very frustrating that I do know.lol

Not necessarily. I have noticed that when you have faults with either side (front or rear) the problem doesn't apply all the way around. If you can find somebody that has a bike similar as yours you may be able to talk them into letting you test (swap) the TSM. That way you will know for sure.
