Fuel valve question
#1

As a relative newbie: I still forget to go through certain routines when starting / ending rides such as turning on / off the fuel valve.
The solution at the start of the ride is simple: bike stalls, Keith turns on fuel, Keith rides off.
But, what happens when I forget to turn the fuel valve off at the end of the ride, and Keith goes into the house for a beer and doesn't ride for 2 days at which point he finds out he didn't turn off the fuel valve?
By not turning off the fuel valve at the end of a ride, will I destroy any beloved components of my bike? Or, can I sleep well knowing that nothing bad could ever come of it?
Thanks!
Keith

Nothing bad will happen, and many I know never turn off the valve...
Gas will only flow when the engine is running...
By the way, when you turn the fuel 'on', make sure you have the pointer in the correct position.
I've seen some that have turned the valve to the 'reserve' instead of 'on' position, and have run completely out of fuel. LoL...

I had a sporty for4 years and 52,000 miles and never turned the fuel off. I don't turn it off mySt Bobnow, but then again I can't. Some of the older bikes, not just HD, gas would leak into the cylinder and if enough gathered itwould hydraulic when started and sometimes bend a rod. Along the same lines in a car with a busted head gasket.

I did that about a year ago and ran out of gas when I was just about to get on the highway during my lunch break. Had to call a friend to come pick me up to go get some gas.
Ever since this day I have NEVER turned my gas off again, lol.

I have turned my fuel off 2 times since iv'e owned it.Once I ran out of gas and switched to the reserve. The other time was when I did the re-jet.I have never turned it off when I was done riding it.I just hit 14,000 miles on my 03 883r so I would have to say it doesn't hurt it by leaving it on all the time
