Problem solved:
At the Leesburg Bikefest I happened upon a vendor at a tent that cut keys. They recognized my issue, and they used a SILCA HON64BP blank key (see image below).
It should be noted that this key is quite longer than the sportster key. The key is (pun intended) to cut the key from the tip, not from the shoulder.
If any of you have this issue and are lucky enough to live in the Leesburg area, the guy who successfully cut the key is Doug and the business is called Affordable Lock & Security Solutions.
Oh, and it was ten bucks, so I saved a few compared to the dealership's quote.

The picture you show from ebay has the slot milled on the wrong side. The ebay key blank has the slot milled on the left side of the key. The correct blank has the slot milled on the right side of the key. This was covered at the first of the thread.
