I can't find these anywhere! Flea bay has some that are going for almost $80-90 and are usually scratched. Can't find OEM either. Can these be powdercoated? And I hate the chrome ones.

HD has one for like 40 bucks. You talking about the derby cover and inspection cover?

Probably because they are a POS design and most people seem to lose them. If they are metal, they can be powdercoated. If plastic, just paint will be fine. If it's just chrome plated crap plastic, sand it and paint it black.

Makes me glad I've got an older exposed battery model. Those plastic covers make the bike look like a cheap toy IMO.

they are metal. but yes, the design is bad the clips don't hold very well and fall off while riding.
i had mine almost fall of, the top clips came undone and it was hanging open while on the highway. luckily the bottom clip held and i was able to zip tie it back shut

Actually, you can find them strewn all over the roads. Without modification, they are notorious for falling off on a ride without the rider knowing until he stops somewhere and notices it is gone.

Not sure why HD kept 'em black. I like 'em to match the rest of the tins myself. But yeah, they come off easy.

yep, me too, bikes look so much better when they match the tank..

I guess so HD can make money selling a set of matching ones for $170.

Note for the OP,, Harley does sale them to match your bike for only $170 a set, actually it's not a bad deal. make you give the dealer your VIN so they can be sure to get the right color.
