I have had the Vintage Wide and the Wide Super Touring Regal (tufted top). Both are very comfortable. The wider seat spreads out the weight distribution and you will have less pressure points and more comfort. I think the only reason to pick the narrower seat is for looks. If you were going to do that, why bother.
I have had the Vintage Solo since 2005 on my XL1200R and find it is extremely comfortable. I anguished over it and the Wide Vintage Solo back when I bought it, and have to say I don't regret my decision one bit. I never rode with a Wide, but the Vintage Solo has been a very comfortable seat and it is miles ahead more comfortable than the stock seat which I still use on occasion for two-up riding. I remember thinking the Wide would splay my legs too much but I don't know if that would be true or not. I am very happy with the narrower one, and have been for 10 years.
Threw the Mustang Vintage WIDE solo + WIDE passenger seats on my 2018 Iron 883 last week. My girlfriend and I couldn't be happier about the look and COMFORT these seats provide. I'm 5'9 @ 125lbs and she's 5'8 @ 110lbs. Could not recommend more.
