Default Sportster Z bars

Hey guys I have a 2000 sportster and thinking of changing my bars to a set of Z bars. Does anyone know what you can get away with before you have to change throttle cables and clutch cable?

I had the same bars on my 11 iron for a few months. My cables worked fine I just needed to bend my brake line a little. I actually liked those bars a lot.

That's about a 7.25" rise so you ought to be fine with stock cables/wires. I want to say 8" to 10" max with stock length cables/wires. Of course the width and sweep make a difference but it doesn't appear to be too extreme like on beach bars and such. In some cases people will actually shorten their cables to run clip-ons, clubman's, etc.

Kind of random, but according to a local bike builder, Victory's will allow you up to 18" bars with stock cables/wires! They just have it all tucked in until you want to pull it out. How cool is that?

I agree with everyone else.....should be good with those measurements. By the way, damn good looking bars! If you don't mind me asking, who makes them??

8" or shorter, you wont need to change cables. I have 10" bars on my 48 and only had to replace the front brake line.

The bars are a fairly cheap set and are made by TMS
