Default Saddle bags on '07 1200C

Well, I'm looking for a nice set of saddle packs for an '07 Sportster 1200Custom. I know HD sells there own, but I can't afford them at this point in time to be honest. I could've afforded their synthetic one but it apparently doesn't support 05 or higher models due to a wider rear?

I did a search on these forums and came across jafrum and Tourmaster CII saddle bags. My question is what is the biggest economical throw over bag I can get for my bike, and won't require relocating my rear lights? I read a post on these forums that you can't go over 15"?

I ride one up and have the stock 2 -up seat for the sporty. I was thinking of converting to a solo seat but I think I read a post that you can't put throw overs on those because there is nothing to hold them down? As you can tell I'm new to this.

Thanks for any help and I appreciate everyone understanding I can't afford the HD brand bags - yet.

I have Willie and Max saddlebags on mine. They are the compact slant studded ones and the size is
12" wide x 9.5" high x 5.5" deep They fit fine without needing to relocate the rear turn signals. I also have a solo seat and a rear fender bib.The leather yoke is held down withmost of it being under the seat anda littleunder the fender bib.

Those look nice. That is in my price range I should've said what my price range was but its <$150. Is that the biggest bag I can go with?

These will be my first saddle bags so you have to remove the seat and install them underneath? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of throw over? Also do I need the saddle bag supports from HD?

Well you would be throwing them over...over the fender and under the seat.
I don't have any saddlebag supports I just tie them with the included string to the turn signals and top of the shock. After having them on for a little over a year the back of them are starting to rip the thread where they are sewn together where it is rubbing against the shock.

I've got the Tourmaster slants on mine and 12" long is about all you can use without signal relocation. Now if you don't carry a passenger and dont mind them protruding farther fwd. then you could get away with 15" ones but they would not look quite as good shoved fwd.
If your considering the Tourmasters, I got mine from http://www.motoemporium.com/tourmast...seriibags.htmlfor about $107. They're pretty nice, just don't hold much due to the small size but for no more than I use them they do the job fine.
Heres a shot of them on my bike.....

I second the setup that PigInaBlanket uses.Thecompact slant bags areabout as big as you can use without moving the turn signals. The other positives are thatthey giveenough room for a passenger (Harley pillow top touring saddle), andthey lookgood. Willie&Max is a synthetic bag that holds up well in my experience. Some leather bags are cheaper, but leather is slow to dry and molds easily.

Contact Doug's Duds 1-519-354-8961. He carries a full line of saddlebags and other leather apparel at excellent prices. Bought mine for $143.00 Canadian dollars including taxes.
