Nah... the good stuff is cheap.


The hd kit (62996-07a) is only $180.00. Its a low end jagg slimline 6-row cooler. Most dealers will try to sell you the $300 kit that comes with the black cover.

Just give the dealer the 62996-07a part number and it should come up at 180 in there sysyem as an orderable "to be discontinued " item, as it was replaced by 62700-082. Its the same cooler and lines but, with better clamps and a cover. Not worth 120 extra considering the cover costs 39 and jagg heavy duty clamps are 16... and neither are needed. I just beefed up my hoses and clamps as a precaution.

The real expense is the adapter w/thermostat. It's 169. But i wouldn't run a cooler without it for fear of over-cooling. Niether hd kits include a thermostat. The lines/hoses included run between the oil pump and the engine. The jagg adapter catches filtered oil. No clogs or nonsense with major oil arteries.

But there are inline thermostats out there. I just prefer the K.I.S.S. method. Less connections to fail.

 

I was going to position lower like the dyna, softail, and touring bikes, but I knew is adding a chin fairing there (ebay has some chiniese hd knockoffs for 50 vs hds ridiculous 150, ordered a black one:

I also wanted to keep the cooler out of rock/debris territory as much as possible. I saw a lot of coolers mounted there while i was researching coolers.

 

I have one on my oil tank but not one on the cluster Or bars. I think an engine temp guage hwould be best but, i never looked into it.

im open to advice here. the engine will shut down at certain temps so there must be a sensor to tap into.
