Default Shortening Windsheild

Hi guys....I find that my QD windsheild is a bit too tall......the top is right on my eyeline. Is it possible to shorten it without screwing it up. I think I remember reading somewhere that HD stealers have the correct facilities to do it properly. Personally, although I am quit handy I have to admit that cutting a winsheild scares me a bit. Maybe you guys can give me some tips but at the end of the day if its too difficult I will have to get it done at the stealer.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I cut mine down 2-1/2 inches or so using a jigsaw. I first taped over the whole area to be cut to avoid scratching with the jigsaw base, used a drafting compass with a pen attached to transfer the profile of the windshield down to the height I wanted, said my Hail Mary's and cut very carefully. I used a file and sandpaperto smooth the edge and it looks great. Just gotta be real careful with that jigsaw, friend.

I have cut lexan with a jig saw before, I used a fine tooth metal blade basically the same teeth as a hacksaw blade has. Also cut slow so you dont melt the lexan.

I made my own windshield out of Polycarbonate material, similar to Lexan, cuts like metal. My advice is be careful cutting it shorter. If ya get it a bit to low, the wind turbulance over the top is gonna bounce ya head around terribly.

Can youmove the mounting hardware lower on the forks? Might save you a bit of trouble.

Slide it down on the forks, if there's room.

You want it high enough to cover your mouth at least (unless you likeeating bugs), and low enough to be able to see over it okay.

Lots of people make sure it's high enough to cover their nostrils as well, so a bug don't fly up their nose as well.

The procedure that eggroll describes is exactly the same that I used. To the tee. I had no problems doing it this way. I had to trim off about 2 inches. Use a fine tooth blade.
