Do a search on "denim wash" and you'll find a lot of posts. From what I've seen (again I'm just a forum lurker. No Nightster yet. []) people have been using windex. I can't remember if it's with or without ammonia.
I washed mine with windex and even waxed in with NuFinish the other day. I was happy to see the wax didn't make it shiny. If anything it seemed to make the colors darker.
I was planning on getting the silver/black 1200N, but the denim paint stuff makes me think I might be better off getting one that requires regular care. My care usually consists of hose cleaning and carwash spray cleaning with a rare wax when needed. I am not a buff the chrome out sort of guy. I am not very fastidious about cleaning my bikes.
I'm thinking of getting the orange/black b/c it's a gloss paint, but for different reasons. I like the paint to shine. I usually will hit the paint with a little spray detailer after every ride just to keep it looking good in between washes. Bike's so small that it only takes a couple of minutes. Still waiting for stealer to get in the silver/black so I can make a final decision.
I got the silver and black paint, my dealership told me to use good ol dish soap and water, i think he actually told me not to use wax however......its hard to remember what someone is saying to you as your rolling your new nightster out the door!
I don't know about dish soap on any automotive finish. Dish soap is very harish and would NOT use it my bike or car. Use an auto soap, I would stay away from dish soap.
sounds logical to me. Why do you suppose he would tell me that? I must have misunderstood him or something,I am beginning to understand however that the dealership may not be the best source of info on some things.
