are mustang wide tripper seats even close in comfort to wide vintage?

Thanks guys. We both have our seats installed, but our road trip might get cancelled due to weather The forecast for our departure date dropped almost 20 degrees since I ordered my seat.
First impressions of the tripper: It's very low and narrow at the front compared to the stock seat (and the mustang), I almost feel like I need extenders for my forward controls now. The seat is rather stiff, but it's only been ridden about 50 miles so far... so it may break in a bit softer. That said, stiff gives good support... so other than bad bumps, it felt pretty comfortable. The backrest totally changes the feel of the bike, and will be great for road trips. I'll report more when we've put some long days of riding in.

And if not, hey, sell it and move on to something else.

I have never ridden on a solo wide vintage but I can tell you I rode 700 miles in one day on the solo wide tripper and I love it. I have a dyna but a good seat is a good seat. I needed about 200 miles for the seat to really break in right. At about 500 it was perfect. I rode to CO and back from MT. a couple of years ago and put in about 3500 miles on the seat on that trip. There is no way I could have even tried on the stock seat. I can only speak for myself but after break in its the most comfortable seat I have used.
