Stage one download. CRAP!!!

The VIEDs work in closed loop, but are supposed to help in open loop through a learning process that was explained by the maker on his site. If the things work to lower my oil temp at 70 or 75 then I am happy. I am not racing or trying to have an ego thing with a super fast machine. I just want a bike that works the way it is supposed to, before the dumb M$%%^& $&(&*%S started messing with or lives.

The XiED Products come in various configurations that you can see HERE.
They work far better than an EPA compliant HD Download, cooling the bike a bit, surging will be gone, acceleration will be smoother and stronger.
Check out the chart below-
Open Loop is enriched with the XiED products via the Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT)/Adaptive Learning that is built into the HD ECM.

Just because those are the values actually being reached doesn't mean that's what the systems actually trying to achieve. The shop needs to look at the EFI tables and compare those to what they're actually seeing to find out if maybe the wrong maps got downloaded.
I've been running the official Harley Stage 1 map (from an SERT) on my 2007 Sportster for many years now and it's been great, oil temps never get beyond about 210 if I'm in motion, even in the middle of summer.
It's possible that the downloads for the '13 models god borked somehow, but to know you really need to look at what the tables actually show in addition to the AFR as measured at the tailpipe.
Also, it's worth noting that you cannot get a proper tailpipe AFR reading if the pipes have a catalytic converter in them. You need to sample before the catalytic converter if you want an accurate reading.

I don't understand above comment. Will the HD ECM LTFT automatically richened in open loop without XIED or do XIEDs do more trickery in open loop to cause it

Where was measurement made (before or after)? Results seem to indicate after.

All what stuff? I haven't seen anything in here that would steer you away from the VIED? or you could spend 5x the price and remap the whole thing

I tried the Vied's on my 13 Heritage. Tried four different settings, each for several hundred miles. With stock air cleaner and Vance and Hines Straight Shot slip-on's, I could never get rid of the decel pop.
Just the other day when the temps hit 70 here in Colorado, I installed the Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage II and flashed the ECM with the Vance and Hines Fuelpac3. No more decel pop.
Bike runs well. Might try to auto tune next time the weather is nice again.

I've been running the stage 1 download from HD and then also the VIEDs. I actually spoke to the guy who created them and he explained to me that they can be used in unison. I've had it for more than a year and it works great. Smooth throttle response and no jitters or sputtering/backfiring. Engine running cooler too. Quite happy with it. I considered remapping but figured I'd do that when my warranty is over and I change cams :-)
