Default Brown Seat Cover

So I've been wanting a brown seat cover for a while and came across 2 yards of brown pleather fabric for $8 so I thought I would give making one a shot for that cheap. This was my second attempt, and though not perfect, good enough for $10 including the thread. Man these things are a pain to make though...

Did you just put that over the stock or did you pull the stock cover and use it to make the template?

I did put it over the stock seat cover however I could have taken the stock cover off and then put it on. I made my template with paper by putting it on the various pieces of the seat cover and tracing the stitch points. I did that with the cover on the seat so it was a little tough but it worked.

Third attempt I about got it perfect. Only took me about three hours to complete. I got some better quality material as I found some on sale. Originally was $30 a yard and I got a yard and a half for $25.

Nah, dont like it.

Original black looks better, or try a lighter matte brown with better cut.

Well done - now we can see why upholsterer's cost as much as they do!

Everyone's gonna have an opinion. I say you have skills clearly. Great job. Brown is going to be a nice combo with your bike. Next step will be to build your own with better foam than the stocker. Personally for me it's a little more "pillowy" than I'd want and I'd be curios to see what a darker, richer brown would look like. I see you moving on to better materials eventually. Way to do your own thing. Keep going and keep posting. For every naysayer there are ten others who you'll giving good ideas to.

thanks for the positive feedback. I actually really like the feel of the material. it feels better quality than the stock seat cover. much much better than the first material I tried.

it has that pillow look because I've added foam on top of the stock seat foam. I shaved the original foam some which reduced the pillow look from being over the top and I can ride about 2 hours now before I feel like a break which is fine cause I need fuel by then anyways.

did the pillion seat too. was a lot harder cause the bottom wasn't two pieces so I couldn't adjust for any error in measuring so I had to do my best to make a small fold not too abviouse...
