Tommy,

PM me when you get to Sarasota. Will hook you up with local information and riders. Sounds like you will be here in the height of the summer heat. A windsheld is pretty standard gear here in the summer .... bugs and rain. I typically ride in jeans and a tee shirt in the heat. Personal choice thing. Keep your head on a swivel and you will be just fine dodging our retirees.

When it gets really hot....below the ankle boots, shorts, sleeveless t-shirt, and half finger gloves.

Save all the road rash comments, I've had some really bad road rash before.

whatever I happen to be wearing at the time I want to go somewhere... generally jeans and a t-shirt... casual shoes, sometimes even sandals if I'm feeling to lazy to change.

In the dead of summer heat & high humidity, dressing to stay cool is a s... load better than passing out fron heat stroke wearing a ton of protective gear. 30 years exp. riding in FL, I'll risk the rash.

You are correct about being in the military. If I get into an accident and Im not wearing my requred PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) than I get no insurance benefits. But I am seperating from the military in 3 months and moving to the Sarasota area in Florida. I still want to wear my full faced helmet and protective equipment though. I just want to be comfortable doing it.
Tommy good luck to you. I grew up in Venice and lived in Sarasota for a little while. I left 21 1/2 years ago to the join the Marine Corps and I've been in ever since. I tell you, you forget how hot/humid it gets until you go back home to visit (its still not like the sandbox though). If you haven't been home in a while, you'll see how busy the traffic has become. When I left, it was only real bad when the snowbirds were there, now its all year. Thanks for your time in the military, its appreciated. I would guess USAF or USA if you said you're in Alaska.

S/F,
Ken

I am USAF. 8 Years of turning a wrench on the F-15. I am moving to North Port to run a restaurant. The great part is that Port Charlotte House of Harley is about 5 minutes away from where we will be moving to.

Hey Tommy, let's go ridin' sometime. There's not to many fourm members up here, to bad your leaving. Anyways I've got a leather mesh jacket you can check out, it was like riding in a tee shirt.
