Had the bike in for oil leak about a week ago,they said it was overfilled.Which means,they couldn't find the problem.Although they had it for 8 days.Today same thing,but I notice it only happens when the bike is in direct sunlight,never leaks in the garage at night.I geta tech on the horn,and he says bring it right in.This guy was much more concerned,maybe they try harder when the same problem wasn't fixed? So I'm a customer wait now.He comes back,in a little while,having found the problem.He asked me,how full do you fill your tank?What happened was my black tank,in the sun, gets hot, fuel expands.I had it real full,so it starts coming out the overfill tube,picking up road grime on the way out,and looked like oil running off it. Kinda weird,huh? But makes sense,with the in the sun only happening.Rode home with my bike within an hour.

Guess that's why the manual cautions about overfilling.

 

I know,it's because the tank is 3.3 and the reserve goes on in about 90 miles,so I was always trying to jam as much in as I could. HEE-HAW! I'm braying like a jack ***.

 

Yeah! I had the same thing happen to me, brough the new Sporty home from the dealer 70mi trip, so I filled it up 80 deg.outside got a bite to eat and noticed a large drip of (what I thought was oil) on the blacktop. Called the dealer and their tech asked if I filled it too much and to check the overfill tube and that exactly what it was. I just park it in the shade in hot weather with a full tank

 

Hmmm... no worries for me... as it never stays full for very long... lol
