Lucky for me, a couple of my neighbors also ride. Not so lucky for our neighbors who do not...

You're definately doing the right thing by being considerate. If I'm working in my garage, I'll fire my exhaust back towards a stack of towels that really deadens the noise.
Thought about starting it in the garage, but thought that might make it worst. I road it to work tonight, working 2nd so I will get home around 11:30pm. We will see I guess.

Both our bikes have loud pipes and we have great neighbors. I want to keep the peace with my neighbors but also want to ride to work, starting one them up at 6:15am and letting it warm up looks to be a problem. Was thinking of rolling it to the street and starting it there???? What do guy's do?

Brian
I keep my bike doublelocked and covered on my back patio, 'cause I only have a one-car garage. I try not to start it in the backyard next to my neighbor's bedroom window early in the morning or at night, out of courtesy. Instead I just sit astride it and wheel it out to the driveway and fire it up out there. I've never had a complaint yet.It doesn't hurt to treat your neighbors decently, if you're able to, and I think it's a wise thing to do as well.

I don't gun it either. Just let it idle for a minute or 2 and ride off slowly.

What about quieter pipes, oh, wait a minute what was I thinking ???? Really, I think that all of us are eventually going to have to deal with this issue whether we want to or not, way to omany complaints. I could leave with the Rineharts on my last bike and not create too much unrest, but on my current bike they are loud, ordered RB BlackHoles, much quieter.

I would wait until someone complains, or the LEO shows up, then rethink what pipes you may be running.

Well said Dalton. We need to self regulate or risk alienating ourselves. There's more of 'them' than us. I love loud pipes on the open road, but courtesy in neighborhoods, etc is common sence.

BTW - this weather sucks - Canton, OH.

Mine has Rush slip-ons so I could quiet mine down if I wanted too, Kristin's has drag pipes, it's what came on the bike. She likes them, but she may have to give them up at some point.
