Default Brake / Run / Turn Signal Conversion Problem

I have a 2002 Sportster Hugger that I've deleted the rear tail light on and now am trying to convert the turn signals into brake, run, and turn. Using the HD module 69462-06D I've got both rear lights to work as run, and brake, but I can't get the turn signal to work correctly.

I made a quick video illustrating the problem:

Any ideas on what's going on? Is splitting the ground three ways the problem? Or do you think it's the module?

Did you change the bulbs?

It looks like the bulbs and sockets were changed because the brake light is brighter than the running light. Just to make sure though gh. The sockets and bulbs should be the 1157 type.

Now, I'm getting ready to change turn signal for a type that uses red fro run/brake and yellow for turn (2015 Iron). Maybe some similar situation. As I read the diagram and look at the physical wires, I find something weird.

Four wires run from the main harness.
Ground
Run
Turn
Brake

At the connection to the stars wires, only three are used.
Ground
Run
Turn

However, brake lights work even though the wire marked as a brake light isn't connected to anything.

I'm thinking the high intensity brake and turn signal are coming from the same "turn" wires.

I was having a similar issue when we set up my girlfriends 2003 the same way. I bought a Custom Dynamics run/brake/turn module used from a member here, but it was for an 04+, so I had to hard wire it. Anyway, what we ended up doing was swapping out the internals from the front signals to the back signals (since front were used as running lights also)....the turn signals still were acting up, they would flash on and stay lit, or do a very slow flash. It was very random.

I called custom dynamics and ended up buying their turn signal load equalizer for $15 and that's what fixed it. Everything works as it should now, and signals flash normally. If you feel this may be the answer, I would give them a call and talk to a tech, I called a few times and it was probably the best customer service i've ever dealt with. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Item: GEN-5.6-15
Universal 5.6 Ohm H-D Turn Signal Load Equalizer w/ connectors

I changed the both lens units when I did the chop, but they appear to be stock (though there is different lettering on the sockets.) On the right was what I pulled, on the left is what's in the video.

That might be the issue. This unit is supposed to be 69462-06D, which I believe fits the '02 2-wire, however I bought the unit used on ebay and all it came with was a sheet of instructions that looks like they were printed from a pdf. The only markings on the unit are "3814" printed on the edge.

Maybe my best bet is to go buy a new unit from the dealer and see if that works.

That's correct, as the three wire turn signal design wasn't integrated until '04. The conversion module is supposed to solve that problem.

Went and bought a new module from the dealership yesterday and it's still doing the same exact thing. #FML
