Has anyone managed to install decent bags on an Iron without relocating the turn signas and plate? I am so frustrated with this. I really want to keep my expensive modified 1200 Iron, but I need bags. I hate the look of the relocated turn signals. I’m almost at the point of trading for a street glide. Any ideas?

Long Distance Solo Sportster
2014 SuperLow 1200 with Mustang Vintage Wide Solo seat.
Hard-mounted solo swingarm bags. I fabricated mounting brackets to prevent "bag swing", and I'm not referring to what happens to your nethers, when you get older ;-0
Frame hard-mounted chin bag for tire repair kit. Yes, another mounting bracket to design and fabricate.
There's a tool bag hard-mounted to the left side swingarm for, you guessed it, tools and I cannibalized some mounting hardware from a moustache bar to attach a pair of HD windshield bags to my mini-ape handlebars behind the MS "Gauntlet" fairing.
This is my everyday ride.
My everyday ride.
Fender "cradle" with attached TourPak back rest.
Saddlebags and cradle mounted.
70 later dry bag fits the 12" diameter cradle perfectly.
Saddlemen Drifter saddlebags, hard-mounted to existing stock OEM docking hardware. Again I had to fabricate mounting hardware to utilize the OEM docking studs.
I had a HD Solo TourPak but due to a mishap, needed to come up with an alternative. The Tour Pak was nice but was a tad restrictive as you can't really mount or strap anything to the top of the case but I liked the backrest, very comfy.
So I designed and built a "luggage cradle", that attached to my HD detachable solo fender rack. The "cradle" is like a half pipe that can accommodate any duffle or roll bag. Easy to tie down, I use a couple of ROK Straps attached to the docking posts, to secure the load. When touring, I have a generous, 70 liter/18 gal capacity roll top, 100% waterproof duffle bag with an 11 inch diameter that fits the cradle nicely, and carries a lot of stuff. I salvaged the backrest from the old TourPak trunk and attached it to the cradle. The backrest with a set of forward highway pegs to stretch out and my Mustang seat make the miles go by almost effortlessly. With a 4.5 gallon tank and a fuel level sensor, who says you can't tour on a sportster. If your lady wants to go with you, she'll have to get her own Sportster!
