Nice...looks like a lot of room in those. No more backpacks lol. You will love saddlebags. Do the bags lock?

Those look great! My 2009 Sportster came with the Leather Pro bags you can see below and I added a like new used trunk bag later.

Works great and holds a lot of stuff from rain gear to some spare parts just in case.

Default Finally got it "done"

So I've been working on this for a while now as you got some early pics during the test fitting stage.. Just a few more little things to finish it, but... this is as close to done as it gets..

Paint color from a 2012 CVO street glide called hot citrus...

really enjoyed this whole build, and it rides amazingly!

Yeah, they are plenty big. Actually bigger than I thought they'd be. Love having them on already. No more backpacks is right! I actually have some neck and back problems so the backpack was causing me some real problems. They do lock but it wouldn't take much effort to break them. Hopefully more of a deterrent than anything else.

Yeah, I'm really wishing I would've just gotten my bags when I got the bike. It took me a lot longer to get them than I thought it would. I've actually been looking for a trunk style bag for the rack. Actually ended up going with a removable backpack from Viking that mounts on the rack and over the sissy bar. Just got it the other day but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Saddlebags performed flawless last weekend during the Ride for the Cure. 170 miles in the rain. Everything in the bags was dry!

Nothing super fancy, but it works for me. I think that figuring out a more aesthetically pleasing option for the rear turn signals than the bracket that was included with the bags is on the agenda in the near future, though...

I do have pictures that show the entire transformation. I documented every stage.

I'll put up a link to a folder that has all pictures in it.

Thanks for the compliment. As I said, I really enjoyed the build! and I'm amazed at how versatile the 48 really is!

I still have a few more little things to do, like i have a rear fender facia being painted, driver and passenger floor boards, throttle cables from a sporty 72, and next winter comes the engine upgrades.

probably going to go with a kit I found that makes the 1200 into an 88 CID with 115 ft pounds of torque.

Should be fun!
