Question head gasket?

just noticed on 1995 883 my head gasket is damp all around the gasket front back and sides on front cylinder i thought if a gasket blows out its usually in one spot could this be a exhaust gasket leak at the head blowing back onto the gasket or a rocker box gasket leak onto the head gasket thats not real easy to spot i noticed a sound when the bike was running (kinda whining turbo sound) but no air leaking around gasket that i could find

Not sure about a '95, but my '05 the culprit was hardened rubber O-rings around the oil gallery drain, you can see it around the hollow dowel in the pic. You can also see the extent of the oil leakage by the stains on the upper cooling fin. Problem solved with Cometic MLS head gaskets which eliminate the rubber O-ring.
