Spark Plug Wires-What MFG?
I did a search but didn't come with anything so to speak.
With that said what plug wires are you using?
I have a gift certificate from HD and I need a set of wires.
Found a set for 26 bucks at HD but was wondering if they are any good, or should I just make my own?
Not sure if the wires for a bike need to be a certain length etc.
Thanks,
Jim

The SE wires from HD are good; the OEM ones are good too.
I'm running Sumax 8mm wires on my 1250; they were good but were maybe an inch too long for my liking. Homebuilt solid-core cloth covered wires on my ironhead (don't try unless running points or mag).
They're really all the same and about the same price. Your performance won't suffer with any of the name brands. Perks of the sumax was you can get one of about a dozen colors. Your only requirement for running electronic ignition is to run suppression wires.

There have been a few extensive dyno tests of ignition wires, e.g. Hot Rod Bikes did one & the bottomline of claims of increases in hp performance that seem to good to be true, probably are, e.g. companies like Nology, Splitfire etc.
Within the rev range H-Ds use, you want see much difference up top, but with any good brand name, you will see a little in the 2,000 to 3,000 rpm dip area.
There's a comparison Jerry Branch did of many in '101 Harley-Davidson Evolution Performance Projects' by Kip Woodring.
In fairness to the company, Nology actually did do well in this area ... just not at the top end. But may not on all bikes.
Given the little benefit from differences, I just went for what quality was available on cheapest on Ebay and picked up some clearance Accel for less than the cost of one from H-D. Also because they were black.
Magnecor is a name not on this list that often comes up at the high end.
