Default 2008 1200C engine blown at 57K miles!!!

Can anyone recommend a site/location to purchase an engine (new or used) for a 2008 Sporster 1200C? My engine is blown after meticulous upkeep since purchasing it in December 2007 and only 57,000 miles on it. Needless to say this sucks.

Any help is appreciated.

Rebuild it better than before with a kit from hammer performance. You can also get a replacement crate engine through Harley for a few thousand bucks. You could also just get a new bike haha

Sorry to hear that.

You're in SoCal; hop over to xl forums socal: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/f...play.php?f=273 and ask there as well. Someone's bound to have a solution. A few of them build sportster engines just for the fun of it.

BTW what d'you mean your engine is blown? Nothing at all can be salvaged?

A little more information would help. Unless your cases exploded, most engines can be rebuilt good as new. Go over to xlforum.net and try to contact rocketmangb or bullpit, they are experts in rebuilding Sportsters, they will probably have some great advice. Both are in SoCal too.

Look for a used one at a motorcycle wrecker, the motor itself often doesn't get damaged in a rear end or front end crash and with the tip over shut down on the newer bikes you know it hasn't sat on it's side running at the crash scene.
I assume the lower end went or else you would just be looking for pistons & jugs, what exactly happened? inquiring minds need to know!

Not too long ago I followed that very same advice. Next thing you know, Bulpitt and Wedge were fixing my front cylinder just for the fun of it, sipping beer and eating pastrami.

Thanks for the help. According to the mechanic it's completely done.

Angry Not clear what exactly went wrong

I need to get exact and detailed information from the mechanic. I had oil and always maintained it as required.

I was riding on the freeway, heard a loud clanking sound from the engine and while I was moving towards the shoulder the bike turned off and would not turn back on.

The mechanic said something about a rod being bent, but I'll get more info from him. He said the engine could not be rebuilt.

That sounds ominous, but still, I would get a second opinion.
