Okay now j am really stomped. The stealer says my carb should be a 27305-88b which is or has a accelerator pump. You say the 89 does not have it. My bike us a Ca. Bike and the parts Manuel says I should as well as my bike was produced in late 89 after some changes.

I will try a different carb and find out

Just checked the jet in the carb. I have a main of 165 and a slow of 35. From what I have read this is not the right sizes.

OK, you said you spent 3 years rebuilding this bike. From your OP, I think most people here are assuming this was a running bike before the rebuild.

Did the bike run OK before with this carb and jets, or is this rebuild a collection of parts you acquired (basket case)?

Basket case project. Carb was from unknown running bike and bought off ebay. I had alot of work dialing it in as much as I did running rich from gate, carb pops and all. I adjusted fuel screw many times. So Dan89 suggested I look at jets and from what I have read the jets in the carb are not original nor what others have suggested for running in their bilkes. My last question is the jets a part of my cruise fuel starve issue?

Slow 35 could definitely affect things. Use a 45 slow jet, open up the plug for the mixture adjustment, and start with that fuel circuit first. Then worry about the mainjet and needle. If you have a CA carb, make sure if there is an additional vacuum port that you plug it. Only the port to the VOES is needed.

I stand corrected, the first year for CV carbs on Sportsters was 1988, this setup did not have an accelerator pump.

The 1989 Sportsters did indeed have an accelerator pump on the carb, I was wrong on the year.

Actually you were right as well. The first run of 89 had no accelerator pump 27305-88 and the last run late 89 did have a pump 88a.
I think my bike should work with either carb. I am switching jets to 42 slow and 175 manias well as putting new cap on tank.

Ask Manuel to read the manual.
