Default Warped SE Air Filter Backplate

When I installed this kit, I followed the instructions to the letter. After I completed the installation and inspected my work, I noticed the backplate is noticeably warped (it was straight before I installed it). Is it normal for the backplate to be warped after installation? I thought it was a little odd that the instructions stated to torque the air filter to the backplate (using 60 in-lbs of torque). I noticed it took quite a while beforeany torque registered on my torque wrench (I only torquedthe filter boltsto50 in-lbs). It seems to me that 60 in-lbs was excessive, given the visual evidence and the filter should have just been snugged to the backplate. My question is, should I loosen the filter now, or is the backplate permanently warped? Is this a common problem with this air filter kit? Thanks. CG

Did you torque them to inch pounds and not foot pounds? As far as the backingplate it should'nt be warped when you put it on.Somethings out of postion. It will hopefully sping back when you take it back apart.

I'm also guessing those bolts are WAY too tight. Gotta notice the difference in in/lbs. and ft/lbs. Most people don't even have a torque wrench that is sensitive enough for in/lbs. At least, I didn't, until I started wrenching on a Harley.
