Solo seat bolts on frame - Having problems
Hello everyone, 1st of all im glad to be one more member of the biggest Harley forums out on the web, I used to ask my sportster related questions in facebook, but that got old real quick lol.
My sportster is an 06 1200xl c , a couple months back i purchased a La Rosa solo seat , as soon as it came off the box it gave me problems, the seat studs broke off, long story short, I ditched the bottom pan all together , purchased a gas tank seat hinge from DK customs and it currently sits directly on the frame, I noticed the seat is real big and it doesnt actually sit on the frame lol, there is still space between the seat and frame, the back end of the seat rest on my rear fender , i did put a lot of electrical paint so there will minimal damage.
I want to install 2 "rubber stoppers" directly on the back frame, as soon enough that tape will ware off, seems like a straight forward and easy task, but when i took a closer look, right under where i have to drill the holes, there is this huge bulk of cables , its like many cables and its tapped together, i found no easy way around this, is my only option to find out were the cables are and disconnect Im really hoping there is a simpler way of doing this, any ideas tips ?.
Also, the seat position is a little to back for my comfort, i did adjust the seat bolts and the tip of the seat is touching the gas tank, is it that the seat is just to big or the fact that i have a 4.5 gas tank be the issue, any way to solve this aswell. Thank you very much.
Ps, I am attaching my seat, ofcourse it currently does not have that ugly pan on the bottom

sounds like itd be easier to buy a new seat! or the proper bracket for that seat might give you enough lift off the frame. did you buy the seat used? if not, complain about the mounts breaking!
No issues with my HD spring saddle. im short(er) as well, and no issues here with reach; I run drag bars.

(Hope this works/helps.)
Here's my DKCustom seat with a 4.5 gal tank.
Looks tough, but substantially more comfortable than the original harley padded pan seat.
