Default Tank Lift - Gauge of Metal?

For those who are making their own.

1. What gauge metal are you using?
2. What is the different length that you are using for the rear (1/2" difference or whatever looks right for the bikes lines/look)?

I'm going to test out 2"-3" and see what is best for the tank I have.
I need some room, the fuel line/petcock is to close for my comfort.

Thanks,
Jim

i wouldn't think you need much, something like 1/8" thick is sufficient...

a 3" lift is pretty radical too, i don't know the overall style of your bike but 2" should be plenty.

i used these:

added some bolts, and DONE! didnt lift the rear, no desire to as the lines are perfect with the lift.

Here's the bike. I just wasn't sure if the fuel line being that close would cause a fire/problem. I'll make up some brackets and try a 2" one first.
Thanks,
Jim

Looks like the bike had many years of ridding without any problems...

I have a questions with tank lifts - don't you loose quite a bit of fuel capacity, especially with the petcock placed toward the front of the tank??

Agreed-but I would like it up just a little, not comfortable with it like it is. Looks good though IMHO.
