Default Modifying a 2up seat

I remember a few months back, that somebody had modifyed a 2 up seat on a 1200 to a solo seat, by cutting excess material off and reshaping the seat. Does any body else rember this thread and if so can you help me in finding that thread

I don't know anything about the thread, but have modified the shape of my seat. The biggest problem is what to do with the excess covering at the rear of the seat. The easiest thing to do would be to fold both sides neatly pull it tight and staple it in place. The better thing to do would be to cut it properly and sew it up so that it fits snug at the rear of the seat.

You will also need to relocate the rear mounting tab, which will probably require2 nuts on the inside of the pan. This means you will either need to drill the holes and secure the nuts before you attach the cover so that when you bolt the tab to it it will hold. Or you will need to secure the tab and work the cover around it.

That's pretty much all you will need to think about. Just be careful when working the foam. If it is not smooth it will show through. You can smooth it some by lightly kissing it with a propane torch. If you cut too much of the cover, take it to a custom shop and they will be able to rework it for you.

Great Im glad you wrote. I am wondering if you still are happy with the modification, or if after you did the mods, if you decided to get a different seat????, now to the mods, how did you go about reshaping the seat, cutting the pan, reattaching the strap, reattaching the mountingtab.
