Default X14IED to PCV conversion. Quick question.

I am replacing the X14IEDs off my '07 1200C and putting on a Power Commander V. My question is, after I remove the X14IED, should I power cycle the bike on and off before I install the PCV? Should I start the bike without the X14IED? Ride the bike? Or can I just do the swap all at once?

Thanks!

Im going to do the same in a few days with a Fuelpak3. I was thinking of removing the Xied's and just disconnecting the battery for a bit. But if you think about it, at least with the Fuelpak3, it will take the current ECM map and store it, then flash a completely new map to the ECM.
So I wonder if you will be doing the same????

just put it ...on xieds don't change the map,as far as the controller on the bike is concerned it is just running at a normal mix... so the bike won't even know they are gone and the PCV doesn't use the 02 sensors anyways...

The PCV is a piggyback system and doesn't change the ECM directly. It adjust the stock map off the ECM. The PCV stays connected to the bike. If removed, the ECM runs the stock map.

If I'm not mistaken, the Fuelpak3 changes the actual ECM maps.

Yes, the PCV comes with o2 sensor eliminators.

I just wanted to be sure if I needed to clear anything out first.

Thanks

mrfikser is correct. Just replace it. I did the same thing when I went to a stage 1.

Our recommendation would be to just remove the X14IEDs and then follow the Instructions to install the Power Commander V. I would be careful riding the bike without anything tuning it.

I installed it. I ended up removing the X14IEDs and running the bike for 2 miles. Running through the gears and various throttle positions. Then I installed the PCV and ran the bike again. I won't know until a more thorough ride but I could feel the difference right away. Although the decel popping didn't disappear, it seems to be running stronger and has a nice throttle response.

I want to thank FuelMoto for the map they sent me based on the setup I gave them.

Thanks for everyone's help.
