Default Slip on Pipes

My 2007 Sportster 1200C will be in the middle of May, I am debating wheter to put on the Screamin Eagle or Vance and Hines slip ons. I have been told that the Screamin Eagles are not much louder than stock, and that the Vance and Hines are extremely loud. I want something that sounds great but not where I have to wear ear plugs.

This is my first Harley, I had a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 with Vance and Hines Cruzers and liked the sound of them.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have slipons but to give you a head start, this question gets asked almost weekly here. If you use the "seach" button at the top of the page and enter "slipon pipes" or "slipon exhaust" you'll find alot of info already listed.

vance and hines slip-ons are great. sound great, and affordable. they are loud, but only if you really get on it. Pretty mellow at cruising speed and low rpms. you can get quiet baffles for them as well, but i've heard that they only decrease the volume by a few decibles.

in response to the poster above me...(cmas06)
I imagine that if you don't like the sound of the full exhaust system, you're out even more money..no? I am sorry, just don't understand your rationale. You can listen to soundclips of the vance and hines slip-ons on their website.

I put the SE street legal slip-ons on my bike and noticed a pretty big boost in power and sound. They are definitely louder than stock mufflers and I don't know why anyone says they're not. They sound better too. The sound level is just right for me as I only wanted to get the attention of cagers not paying attention to the road. I didn't want to give anyone a coronary or rattle anyones windows. If that's what youre looking for, these are not your mufflers. If you're looking for improved performance and somewhatlouder sound, these are for you.

Another bonus is that you'll never get a ticket with these as they are legal. Cities across the country are starting to crackdown on loud pipes and I don't care to become another source of revenue for the city or be one of the riders that are the reason a law is toughened.

Happy with my SE Street Legal Slip-Ons

vance and hines HS slip-ons here on my 07 1200c and i love them, they are loud but not obnoxcious, I like the sound. The dealer put them on before i picked it up so i can't comment on the performance improvments. paid $250, well worth it. They look good too.
