Maybe a drop or two every 1,000 miles between oil changes.

Have 80,000 on motor and add about 1/2 quart between 5,000 mile oil changes.

I've never had to add oil to any of the 4 Harleys I've owned. They never burned oil.

I have owned many brand new cars, trucks and bikes over the years and every single one of them has used oil in between oil changes. Some of them have used only a little not requiring a top up and some have used more requiring oil be added. None of them have pushed blue or any other smoke out the tail pipe. Anyone owning an internal combustion engine that uses no oil at all is very lucky.

So far on my 14’ I haven’t had to add oil from just regular daily riding. I have had to put oil after riding about 250 miles at a time. Maybe half a quirt.

Most of the time I go 4-5k miles between changes and never have to add any oil. Every now and then, if there's been a LOT of HARD sustained riding in hot temps (90+ degrees) I might need to add a quarter of a quart to keep it at the halfway mark on the dipstick.

Oil change on my 2009 XL883 every 5000 miles - thus far I have not had to add oil between changes and it runs like a champ.
