Wheel Bearing Puller / Tool

Tapping in new races scored the hub a bit, even after putting them in the freezer for an hour prior to setting them. I probably should have used some anti-seize but I was worried about the race turning in the hub. I shouldn't have worried about that, as tight as they fit.

The last new wheel I bought had the bearings installed, and, as I always, every time, pop a seal off to check inside, I found very little grease and PLASTIC bearing cages. They never even got on the bike, pulled them out and put real bearings in, with metal ball cages. I don't want to think about going over 70mph with the ***** spaced out with flimsy plastic. Obviously some folks are riding on these, but I won't. I think you're doing the right thing replacing them if you don't think they're good quality. Just be sure that however you install the new bearings, you don't put any pressure against the inner races, outer races only. That's one of the reasons I like the Pit Posse style puller set, squeezes them in evenly, too.
