Default Nightster exhaust

Has anyone had luck finding black exhaust for the Nightster or how to get better sound out of the stock exhaust?

i have v&h short shots at my powdercoater now. they should be ready tomorrow. i'm having him powdercoat just the heat shields in matte black, sort of a dusty military black, with the inner exhaust remaining chrome. so the very tip of the inner chrome pipe will be visible. should look pretty good, and plenty loud.

once i have it all buttoned up and done - might take a little time as i can't afford the SERT and the install just yet - i'll try to post a pic of everything on here. i'm also getting old style grips and a shorter, narrower handlebar installed.

i looked around for black powdercoated or ceramic pipes but didn't find any that i liked, so just opted for the shortshots. the powdercoating is gonna cost me maybe $100. totally great deal.

Yes, please post pics when you're done. You're doing exactly what I would be doing if A) I had a Nightster or a bike at all and B) If I got that exhaust.

I'm looking for a new set of pipes too. Not sure what I want to go with, I just know I want them to be matte black.

Any thoughts on this setup?

I put Bug Jug Huggers on my Nightster and all I can say is WOW! Deep and throaty from a sportster. Eveyone, and I mean everyone, mentions how awesome the exhaust sounds. It is a bit pricey, but get these pipes. You won't regret it.

I put Vance & Hines Straight Shot Slip-ons with 2 inch baffles. I wanted more black on my pipes so I drilled holes in the heat shields to match the belt guard, sprayed high temp ceramic paint. Looks killer and sounds killer. If the paint burns off I'll ceramic coat for a permanent fix.
